HERALD ADDITIVE
Legacy Parts for Discontinued Products
Background
As time goes on, products from all industries receive updates and new versions. Be this to improve products which are currently available, or introduce new entirely new iterations. These older products then become discontinued and componentry becomes hard to find, which in turn leads to these older products being discarded.
Goal
A food processor attachment had a blade guide gear break, which in turn caused the mechanism to stop working.
The client was unable to find a replacement for the blade guide gear on the internet or in store.
Our goal was to therefore design and fabricate a new gear for the client.
Solution
Using dimensions from the broken gear, a new 3D model was created. This model was then printed in food safe PETG polymer, and then refitted into the mechanism.
The food processor was once again, able to fully function, and this small gear provided additional years to the service life of this product.
